“The eternal existence of Jesus Christ the Lord is the supreme example of God the Father as the perfect giver.” (Fr. Thomas Hopko+)
Thomas Hopko (born March 28, 1939, Endicott, New York) was an Orthodox Christian priest and theologian. He was the Dean of Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary from September 1992 until July 1, 2002 and taught dogmatic theology there from 1968 until 2002.
Fr. Hopko’s contribution to the collection of articles in “Good and Faithful Servant” is a profound articulation in 40 statements with commentary on the origin, the doctrine and the spiritual practice of good stewardship. He elevates the conversation and understanding of stewardship far, far beyond the tedious effort to collect annual pledges each year, which unfortunately is often the minimalistic treatment it receives.
