The
three-day stewardship weekend offers a comprehensive opportunity to
orient or re-orient the parish to the sacrament of stewardship. The
event includes the possibility of educating the leadership of the
parish in the theological and spiritual necessity of stewardship together
with practical strategies to move the parish forward followed by a
written report with recommendations on how to proceed.
- The weekend begins on Friday with an assessment of present fund
raising activity and the existing stewardship program of the parish.
The assessment includes interviews with 6-7 key leaders, including
the priest, of course; an examination of the present way in which
giving information is managed in the parish; and finally on Friday
evening, a focus group of 8-10 parishioners and the priest discussing
the opportunities and challenges to the good practice of stewardship
in the parish.
- On Saturday an all-day seminar from 10 AM to 4 PM is open to the
entire parish. The content of the seminar is the theology of stewardship
together with practical strategies of improving stewardship in the
parish.
- With the permission and the blessing of the bishop and the local
priest, Fr. Anthony would assist with divine services on Sunday morning,
preaching the sermon.
- Finally, Fr. Anthony would return to his office to write a “Philanthropic
Report” specifically addressing the practice of stewardship
at the parish, offering a customized professional analysis and recommendations
on how best to proceed with the development of stewardship in the
parish. Within a few weeks the report will be sent to the priest.
